Welcome wanderer
You are moving closer and are nearly at the door! When you enter, please leave all your words and meaning behind. We are starting anew. I am so grateful that you are here and willing to experience the things I might say. I am still at a loss for words, but you know, the substance will come when time passes. Right now, we have just crossed the beginning. There are so many things to discover. I will try to make it all as accessible as possible.   So you may wonder where you are right now?! Let me explain it a little bit more clearly. Àyrngáer, or the "Field of Stories", is a semi-fictional visual art and worldbuilding project started by Zev Chafer (me:). The project follows a main storyline where you can explore the universe with its places, characters, history, tales and much more through stories, art, music and video. The story is set against the backdrop of Europe between 1850 - 1950. While the exact location is fictional, it draws inspiration from the tri-border area of the Netherlands and the former Hanoverian and Prussian Kingdoms (where I grew up).   I must apologize in advance. This place is still a bit of a mess. Frayed paper, ink stains and a collection of random words and images. But rest assured, I will make it my job to make something out of it. If you want to know more about the world (or worlds) you are in right now, please use the links below. If you want to know more about the background of this project, please visit the About page. If you want to know more about me, the Creator page may be an option. And don't forget our Guide. He might be helpful... Sometimes. Good luck...

Antonius Lutz: This night's frost was so extreme that even at several centimeters deep, the soil is still solid. We had some left over carrots in the garden, but their seem to be frozen together with the ground.

Alexander Mervell: I want to thank all the people who invested their time in the fundraiser for restoring St. Mary's Chapel. The old church has a special place in our hearts and now we are able to restore it to it's former glory.

Johanna Voorman: I plan to give new lectures on horse breeding next month. It is now possible to sign up via mail, or just hop by and speak to me, my husband or one of the workers.

Theodorus Lutz, also known as Theo, was born on May 1, 1850, as the first child of Bernardus Lutz and Helena Hahn, at the Lutz family estate. Helena had a challenging pregnancy, suffering from extreme fatigue, sickness, and stress before and after the birth. However, she still found the energy to care for her first child. Theo proved to be a strong baby and grew up fast. It was customary for Theo to start working on the farm from a young age. He especially enjoyed working on the land, where he occasionally found peculiar stones and historic pieces. Sometimes, he even found spearheads and ironware in the fields, remnants of people from centuries before him. As he grew up, Theo became a strong person, resembling his father, but with a more open and optimistic character. As the oldest son, he is set to inherit the farm and is looking forward to it. However, he also showed interest in becoming a doctor after volunteering at the hospital with his mother. Due to his father's expectations and financial constraints, Theo had to let go of this dream.

Latest Update

April 20, 2025

Hello everyone, In the last weeks, I have worked mainly on the second part of the website, which is going to house the Community section of Field of Stories. While the description of the world is published in WorldAnvil, I will use WordPress for the Community section, since I have a little bit more freedom in setting up and managing the pages. The community section will be more of a blog anyway, where the people living in my world keep diaries, which are presented in a (sort of) social feed style. I do not want to flood my WorldAnvil website with lots of diary entries and social posts of my characters. So, a blogging platform like WordPress seems the best choice.
Besides the Community, I have also moved the Development section of the website to WordPress, since placing updates is also more about “blogging” instead of Worldbuilding. I have managed to finish this page already. It will give a little bit more insight about the development stage of the Field of Stories and updates/behind the scenes. Next I am going to work on the Diary/Social pages of the Individuals, the Newspapers and the worlds Economy. I may also create a Search page in the future, which is a little bit more elaborate than the Search options of WorldAnvil.
I will try my best with blending WordPress in with my WorldAnvil style, so the two different platforms still feel like one website, although the domain name is different. And, talking about domain names. I have decided to name the Community the “Guild of Stories”. I feel like it fits the style and does not deviate to much from “The Field of Stories”. I want to keep the feel of being “one website” as much as possible. Let’s hope I will be able to achieve that…
