Cornelia was considered a potential match for August Mervell, who was also from a noble family. Despite not being welcomed in the Netherlands due to her name, she ignored public opinion. She married August on February 20, 1860, and quickly succeeded in managing her extravagant husband. Through her connections with the Mervell family, she gained some control over the Region of Kilden, using August as her puppet. Cornelia is known for her strictness, discipline, and no-nonsense attitude, which may not make her loved but certainly makes her efficient in her endeavours.
